STEAM is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. STEAM education refers to using all five subjects together in order to encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills. This teaches students to ask for the “how and why” behind things, fostering innovation by having them figure out things for themselves.
As our world changes, humanity is faced with difficult, complex, and evergrowing problems. Implementing STEAM education enables students wtih the tools to create solutions to combat the challenges we will face in the future.
At Sketchbook Studios, we firmly believe that STEAM education is a crucial part of our society. To further enrich student curiosity and develop skills, we hold once-a-month STEAM special classes, focusing on one of four subjects: Science, Technology/Engineering, English, and Math. Though English is not traditionally part of STEAM, communication and language skills are increasingly becoming a big part of today’s world. Hence, we’ve made a point to have English as an honorary STEAM subject.
